Kenmore Dryer AF error code
The dryer's controller has detected that exhaust air cannot flow freely out of the machine and through the vent to the outside of your home. This almost always means the lint screen, vent hose, or outside vent hood is blocked. Restricted airflow makes clothes take far longer to dry and can cause the dryer to overheat, so it stops and shows AF (some Kenmore Oasis models show F-30 for the same problem).

What causes the AF error?
- Lint screen clogged with lint or fabric-softener residue
- Crushed, kinked, or overly long exhaust vent duct
- Outside vent hood flap blocked by lint, leaves, or snow
- Dryer pushed too close to the wall, pinching the vent hose
How to fix Kenmore AF — step by step
Work through these in order, from simplest and safest first. Stop as soon as the code clears.
- Clean the lint screen
Pull the lint screen and clear all lint. If you use dryer sheets, wash the screen with warm water and a soft brush — softener residue can coat the mesh and block airflow even when the screen looks clean. - Clear the exhaust vent duct
Unplug the dryer, pull it away from the wall, and disconnect the vent hose. Vacuum lint out of the hose, the dryer exhaust port, and the wall vent. Go outside and confirm the vent hood flap opens freely and is not stuck or blocked. A stuck flap alone is enough to trigger this code.

Is the AF code dangerous?
